WHETHER IT’S A FIRST DATE, A GALENTINES OR YOUR UMPTEENTH DATE NIGHT TOGETHER, HERE ARE THREE COCKTAILS FROM OUR VERY OWN BTB STARTENDER, FINCH, THAT YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME TO IMPRESS THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE ON VALENTINES DAY
1. VALENTWINS
This recipe is made for sharing, two cocktails made in the one shaker. Now ain’t that stinkin’ cute
INGREDIENTS
- 90ml (3oz) Vodka
- 60ml (2oz) Soho Lychee Liqueur (or equivalent)
- 3 Teaspoons Strawberry Jam
- 2 Teaspoons Honey syrup
- 60ml (2oz) Lemon Juice
- 60ml (2oz) Egg White (white from two eggs)
- garnish strawberry hearts float on top
METHOD
Add all the ingredients EXCEPT the garnish into a cocktail shaker and dry shake without ice. Add ice to the shaker and wet shake the ingredients. Fine strain the contents of the shaker into two coupettes and garnish each of the pair of drinks with some strawberry hearts.
2. THE FLOWER OF LOVE
The best way to say it with flowers on Valentines Day is with a bouquet made of colour changing gin. Lush.
INGREDIENTS
- 45ml (1.5oz) Empress gin (this is one of the butterfly pea flower gins
so it is purple, any purple gin will work) - 15ml (.5oz) St Germain Elderflower Liqueur
- 15ml (.5oz)Apricot Liqueur
- 15ml (.5oz) Lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons wildflower honey syrup
- 1 dash rosewater
- Lemon peel to garnish
METHOD
Shake all the ingredients together EXCEPT the gin then pour into a martini glass. Add a lemon twist to garnish. Chill the gin down in a mixing glass full of ice. Then pour into the martini glass at the table for colour changing magic.
3. MY HEART’S ON FIRE
Finch swears by this recipe which is a big hit with Mrs Finch. Nice work.
INGREDIENTS
- 45ml Dark Rum
- 15ml Drambuie
- 5ml Dark Creme de Cacao
METHOD
Stir down the ingredients into mixing glass full of ice and then pour into rocks glass.
To garnish, put a wedge of peeled orange (about an eighth) onto a skewer, toss it in brown sugar, brulee the sugar with a blowtorch over the drink so the burnt sugar drips down into the drink. Add a large ice cube
